THYME

Botanical Name

Thymus Vulgaris ‘Garden.’

Nickname

Thyme.

Birthplace

Native to the Mediterranean.

Favourite Environment

A hardy, low growing and attractive herb best suited to a sunny position, which brings the essential oils to the surface of the leaves for great flavour.

Drinking
Preference

Essentially drought-loving, thyme needs protection from cold winds and wet winters. Water well until established, but afterwards it prefers little to no water; only water when completely dry. Trim thyme back after it has finished flowering to promote new growth. If you don’t tidy it up, the plant will become woody and will need replacing after three years.
