Queensland or Australian Fan Palm.

Native to Australia. Trees provided an edible cabbage to Aboriginals, as well as thatch, food wrapping, and cigarette papers (from young leaves).

Part sun, part warm shade.

Watering should be carried out carefully. The Licuala Palm does well with infrequent, deep watering. Allow the top couple of inches of the soil to dry and then water thoroughly. It is prone to oedema and root rot if kept too soggy, especially during winter. The palm likes its leaves to be regularly misted. Remove spent fronds as required.
