BOUGAINVILLEA

Botanical Name

Bougainvillea.

Nickname

Paper Flowers.

Birthplace

Native to tropical South and Central America.

Favourite Environment

Bougainvilleas are drought-tolerant tropical natives, so make sure they get plenty of sun. These are vigorous-growing plants that can quickly take over a wall or garden area, but can be trained and maintained to fit a desired setting, container or pot.

Drinking
Preference

Water a newly planted bougainvillea frequently to keep the soil moist. Once the plant is established, it blooms best if the soil is a little on the dry side. However, don’t allow the soil to become completely dry because a water-stressed plant won’t bloom. Water the plant immediately if it looks wilted. It can benefit from a water-soluble fertilizer to produce more blooms.
